The first disease starts by touch and worsens through the mouth, what if it could be prevented right there rather than letting it enter the system of a human being, well with these thoughts in her Dr. Shifa Arshad went ahead to pursue dentistry not in a regular manner but as a specialized preventive pediatric dentist.
It was her unbound love for children that led her to specialize in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry after accomplishing her Bachelors in Dental surgery in 2006.
It was during one of the days as a residency clinic, it started with a question in her mind “If I have to walk into my practice every day hoping to see and treat sick children can I call myself a Healthcare Provider? Since then she has been exploring, learning, unlearning and relearning the path of PREVENTION in pediatric head and neck health.
But what exactly is a difference between a preventive dentist and a general dentist, answering to that is the purpose, general dentistry revolves around primary dental care once the ailment is detected but on the other hand, preventive dentistry, is a more modern or advanced way of keeping your teeth healthy by preventing gum diseases and tooth decay
To pursue her role as a preventive dental practitioner Dr Shifa after her formal education was on board with many leading corporate practices in Chennai practicing cases s with removable myo appliances and later exploring the role of epigenetics in the development of crooked teeth. After successfully practicing the art of natural treatment for crooked teeth on more than 100 children she observed a tremendous improvement of which many were comparable to gold standard treatments.
In the year 2012, after gaining immense confidence and experience on practicing preventive dental care, Dr. Shifa relocated to Coimbatore to establish her own dentistry We Little.
In due course of her establishment, she met Dr.Chris Farrell in 2013, to work on common motive of assisting children with Myofunctional preventive treatment; under her care, she was able to help 350 children with positive results.
It was during this learning she discovered the role of Orofacial Myofunctional therapy in prevention of crooked teeth.
In 2014, she became a Myobrace certified Provider based on her skills and ability to be able to successfully treat innumerable children with precision and global standards.
This gradual success got her closer to her dream of making a better healthier place for little ones by expanding in a bigger place with international standards and facility. Abandoning the commercial benefits Dr. Shifa took in a massive step to propagandize and create awareness of how one can prevent crooked teeth.
In 2017 because of her meticulous working style, Dr. Shifa was promoted as a Myobrace certified trainer and is one of the very few globally.
With a primary focus on prevention of crooked teeth, her journey like a maze has led her to where she is today. Over the years of practice, she realized the need for promotion of breastfeeding and its role in the optimal development of craniofacial component. In 2017, she was certified at the tongue tie institute Australia.
